More than just the main tournament
The festival consists of three tournaments. Alongside the nine-day classical tournament there is a rapid event — the Svatopluk Hastík Memorial — and a blitz tournament. You can enter either of them without playing in the main tournament, and each one is played in a single day. Exact dates are in the regulations.
The mountains start around the corner
Jeseník lies in the foothills of the Hrubý Jeseník mountains, and the spa grounds climb into the forest above the town. Parks, promenades, viewpoints and forest trails are right on your doorstep. For a walk between rounds you need neither a car nor a plan – just step outside and breathe in the mountain air.
Something for your health every day
Priessnitz Spa is the birthplace of modern hydrotherapy, and it welcomes day visitors too. The Balneopark is open to everyone, so you can try the Priessnitz shower, the barefoot wading pools and the water jets. Dozens of mineral springs rise in the surrounding hills, and you can fill your bottle along the way. Baths, massages and other treatments can also be booked for a single day.
Mornings are made for day trips
If you come by car, the whole region is within reach: the Rejvíz peat bog with its moss-fringed pools, Praděd (the highest mountain in Moravia), Králický Sněžník, or Dolní Morava with its Sky Walk. A trip in the morning, a game in the afternoon.
You will eat well in Jeseník
On the main square you will find Náš Gemer, serving wood-fired Neapolitan pizza as well as Czech cuisine, Naše bistro and an ice-cream shop. A little further there is Restaurace Šafrán, burgers at Smash & Slice and classic Czech dishes at Hotel Slovan. For coffee, head to Vinckovo kafe in the house where Vincenz Priessnitz was born, just a short walk from the playing hall.
The evening does not end with the last game
First come the post-mortems, then the night is yours. Night owls make for Hradní vinárna on Priessnitzova Street – its disco has been running six nights a week since 1994, and on Fridays people dance until dawn. The spa and the town also run their own cultural programmes.
